+<li>1 3-ounce package cream cheese</li>
+<li>1 egg</li>
+<li>1 cup sugar</li>
+<li>1 teaspoon almond extract</li>
+<li>2 1/2 cups plain flour</li>
+<li>1/4 teaspoon salt</li>
+<li>1/4 teaspoon baking powder</li>
+<li>1 cup chopped nuts</li>
+<li>Jarred cherries</li>
+</ul>
+<h2>Directions</h2>
+<ol>
+<li>Cream shortening and cream cheese; add sugar, egg, and extract.</li>
+<li>Sift in dry ingredients and mix in nuts. Roll into 1-inch balls.</li>
+<li>Press thumb in center and add 1/2 cherry.</li>
+<li>Bake at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes.</li>
